Rest in Peace, George Michael

After selling more than 25 million records with Wham! and another 25 millions records of his first solo album, Faith (1987), George Michael released Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 in 1990. To "support" the album, George refused to appear on the album cover and in its music videos, he also scrapped press-cons and photo-shootings -a decision which angered his label, Sony Music. Video for the album's first single, Praying For Time, consists only of the lyrics. While video for the second single, Freedom! 90, features five supermodels lip-synching the lyrics on entire song -supermodel Linda "we don't wake up for less than $10.000 a day" Evangelista was in fact paid $15.000 a day during the filming of Freedom! 90. Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 contains various serious and thoughtful lyrics, rich musical arrangements, and dark mood which paved the way to a more sleek, sophisticated, and refined works on George's next album, Older (1996). Inspired by Stevie Wonder, George Michael wrote, arranged, and performed almost all musical instruments on his solo albums by himself. Rest in peace, beautiful voice #freedom90 #throwbackthursday
